At the time of purchase :

  • Buy from reputable firms or stores. Analyses from I.F.I. or B.B.B. have proven manufacturer's faults but the client was unable to get rembursed because the store was closed.
  • Verify if the colors and the texture are uniform because if there is a difference, it will be more evident after wearing and drycleaning.
  • Avoid a tight-fitting style.The skins are stretched during tanning and some shrinkage is to be expected during wearing and drycleaning.
  • Avoid buying a garment with decorations. These may not resist to the chemicals and the mechanical action of the drycleaning.
  • Pastel colored garments are more susceptible to changes in color or fading during wearing and drycleaning.
  • Buckles and ornaments can cause tears while wearing the garment.
  • Avoid buying a leather garment with an encrusted design because it can not be redyed without hiding the design.
  • Read care labels and hang tags carefully.
  • Save them and make sure you are not buying an imitation (vinyl).
  • Buy a single color garment to eliminate the possibility of transfer of dye in the process of drycleaning (bleeding). Check if the garment was in the window.
  • There could have been oxidation caused by the sun's rays.
  • Finished leathers (painted) are much easier to care for and are easier to clean than unfinished leathers (Cuir sauvage, Nubuck or Nude leathers) .
  • Nubuck leathers stain and fade rapidly.

At the time of wearing :
