SUEDART ACQUIRES BM CHAZALON

WHO IS BM CHAZALON?

It is a carpet and rug cleaner whose plant is the only one in Quebec utilizing very exclusive industrial equipment.

HISTORIC BACKGROUND

In 1982, Mr. Jacques Chazalon, a Frenchman, came to Quebec, in order to interest the major carpet cleaning enterprises in his unique carpet cleaning process.

At that time, he met Mr. Jean-Guy Chouinard, owner of "BM The Carpet King" situated in Brossard. Mr. Chouinard decided to acquire the main equipment required by the Chazalon process, namely a carpet beater & dust remover and a washer & wringer.

Suedart was his chief client.

PROCESS

The first step in cleaning consists of inserting the carpet into a synchronized double-acting machine.

On the one hand, blades beat the carpet backing to set it free of sand and other dry dirt.

On the other hand and at the same time, horsehair brushes open up the carpet fibres, succeeding thus to extract any alien substance that should not normally be there.

It is hopeless to proceed any further in the carpet cleaning process without accomplishing thoroughly this first step of dust & dirt removal.

The washing process than begins. The carpet is spread out on the floor, in the most lit up area of the shop so that the technician clearly sees what he is doing, and on a concrete casing particularly furbished to keep it dust free.

The carpet is then soaked and soaped down.

One can now pass it over with the rotating brush for as long as needed, even when dealing with a carpet made of delicate or capricious fibres.

The washing is now done with, so to speak, but the carpet is still soaked in liquid and soapy lather.

The stage is now set for the true spectacle to begin as the second machine, exclusive to the Chazalon process, enters the scene.

The carpet is then fixed in the middle of a set of hydraulic rolls moving incessantly in a back and forward motion. Aloft, water jets continuously rinse away to the last particle of dirt and soap.

The water gradually turns clearer : it's an indication that the rinse is now completed.

The rolls begin to apply a pressure on the carpet that can reach up to 1,250 lbs.

Is there any need to say more about the efficacy of the wringing.

At the end, the carpet is spread out once more on the floor.

Its fibres are combed assiduously in all directions and checks are made to ensure that rebellious stains have not left any shadowy marks.

The cleaned carpet is then carried to any one of three drying rooms where the temperature and humidity are thermostatically kept constant.

The play is over...we can now turn to the next carpet.
